Talkfly Offering Wholesale VoIP Services

Posted by freeman | Business VoIP, Small Business VOIP Services, Uncategorized, VoIP Installation | Monday 15 June 2009 8:27 pm

Talkfly VoIPTalkfly, which is a well-known provider of VoIP services, is now offering carrier and wholesale services. Among some of the things they offer are:

  • SIP origination and termination
  • DID phone numbers
  • Local Number Portability
  • Origination DID coverage in over 95% of US ratecenters
  • Free testing credit
  • Configuration assistance
  • Hosted PBX

We tried Talkfly out using a BYOD PAP2NA which the technical staff at Talkfly helped us configure. We were provided some testing credit, a features and voicemail explanation sheet, and a login to a customer interface. The interface is somewhat lacking in features, but from what we understand, there are many new self-service features coming soon.

The call quality was consistent and good, we had no issues with DTMF, and have not experienced any downtime in the 6 months we have used the service. They explained that they have several wholly-owned points of presence that all have redundant fiber optic connectivity and high-availability switching clusters for maximum uptime.

We really think that these guys have the potential to do big things, they are now in the process of offering TDM over IP in certain markets soon. Basically they purchase or lease a facility in the LATA of the area they want to deploy TDM in and then have digital lines to the switch at that facility. While you may connect to them via an IP connection, the calls being originated and terminated will be over copper or fiber. An interesting way of switching it up in our opinion.

A signup link can be found at http://www.talkfly.net and once you signup, you will more than likely get an email or call from their staff welcoming you to teh service and seeing if they can assist you in getting started which was a nice thing for us.

We will continue to follow them and report back soon!

Why Unlimited VoIP May Not Be The Best Choice

Posted by jbalk | Business VoIP | Tuesday 5 August 2008 6:52 pm

When looking at providers for VoIP service you will notice many eye catching price plans that can make you want to join them such as unlimited free minutes for a set price. However these plans may hurt your business’s phone budget costing you more money then you would normally pay if you where to go with a rate plan. You may be asking why? Well the reason is quite simple and it comes down to your VoIP providers business strategy to make more money off of you.

If you are trying to get the most money for your business’s budget the best way to investigate this is by looking over the past years phone bills and averaging your monthly minutes. Then look at the rate plans offered by VoIP companies like Convertec Solutions and multiple the per minute rates by the average amount of minutes used each month with your business phone provider. Then take the unlimited plan and divide it by how many minutes you use. Most likely after you have done the math you will see that you will pay less on a rate plan then you would buying a unlimited package.

Most of the time if you do the math you will notice that sometimes a unlimited plan that may look enticing will cost your business a lot more then your normal rate plans with other VoIP providers. So i would suggest to be a smart shopper and do your math because it will pay off in the end to make your business a more efficient financial model by not wasting your money making jump decisions.

VoIP Termination Services Change The World

Posted by jbalk | Business VoIP, Residential VoIP, Small Business VOIP Services | Sunday 20 July 2008 8:20 pm

VoIP Termination Services have become so widespread if your in a unregulated country that does not block SIP ports, you can take advantage of VoIP termination to make phone calls any where in the world using your Internet connection at your business or home. VoIP Termination rates vary from company to company and depend if you are buying just minutes or a unlimited frat rate.

Some things to consider before purchasing a VoIP termination service are:

-Your phone calls will only sound as good as you Internet connection. You should have at least a cable, DSL or a T1 depending on how many phones you plan on using for your business. High latency connections such as satellite are not acceptable, as it creates too much delay.

-Make sure that your country does not regulate or block SIP ports.

It is funny to think everyone who had a phone a few years ago had to sell out to a monopoly or go with out any phone service. Many people do not even realize that VoIP termination services have turned the telecommunications industry into a more competitive market place where new VoIP phone companies are coming up all over to compete with the big dogs in the telecommunication industry.

So If your looking for a good way to save money when making international or local phone calls from your business or at home and become part of a revolution then I would definitely shop for  VoIP Termination Services.

VoIP Virus Continues To Infect Businesses

Posted by jbalk | Business VoIP | Tuesday 15 July 2008 1:29 pm

VoIP BugsIt seems like it was just yesterday that the VoIP bug started spreading rampantly through every local business and call center in the industry. As the saying goes”If it is not broken do not fix it!”, I like to say “If you can save money why not?” after all gas isn’t getting any cheaper. However among the many happy business owners out there reaping VoIP’s benefits there are a few people who just refuse to make the switch to Voice over IP Technology. These business owners have continued to let the traditional phone companies rape their bottom lines with outlandish bills and antiquated technology; while the feature rich VoIP customer stands across the street getting phone service for less than half the cost.

Besides cost saving, you are getting fancy features that they don’t offer. You probably don’t know it, but your traditional phone companies’ systems lack many features provided free with VoIP services. These features are endless and range from: voice mails being delivered straight to your email in .wav files and the famous ‘find-me-follow-me’ feature. This feature enables incoming calls to your phone system to ring more than one phone at a time, say your desk phone, and your cell phone while you are out and expecting that sales call. To push the expectations even more the features are endless because VoIP is based on a software platform that can be programmed to make custom changes to provide the features your business needs.

These features are pretty amazing with VoIP technology that most people can not live without them once they have started to use them.  However when you hear more features you may tend to see the dollar sign turning higher digits on your bank accounts balance, but wait a second.  About 95% of these features come standard with your VoIP phone service at no extra charge.  You may be wondering what the catch is, right? Well rest assured there is no catch with this service. In all actuality having a VoIP service for your small or large business will normally cut your phone bill in half.

So the next time you see the news about gas prices rising you might want to consider catching the VoIP Virus.
